MAKE: Star Trek Doors

I know you think it’s nerdy. So did I. Then I watched it and the gears started turning. Fast. I need this. We all do. I never realized how sexy that hissing sound is. Instructables has the full how-to after the jump.

GET: Boardgame Remix

Board games are fun. Except when they’re not. Once that happens (read: after you’ve played them once or twice) don’t retired them… remix them!  Just a couple bucks takes home the Boardgame Remix book or iPhone app and retools just about every game currently crammed in your cupboard. Monopoly gets made-over. Scrabble gets scrambled. And Clue becomes a Zombie strategy game. Boom.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: WIRED Store

WHEN:
November 19th – December 26th, Wednesdays through Sundays, 11AM – 7PM
WHERE: 692 Broadway NYC
WHAT: “The WIRED Store is not just a shopping destination – it’s an interactive experience that allows you to touch, test and tinker with the most “wired” products out there for the digital gentleman, gadget girl, gastronaut, smarter upstarter, adventure capitalist, maker, or culturazzo in your life. Stop by to shop and share what you find with friends and family”… No really though, it’s a room filled with mega-fun, super high-tech toys you’re allowed to play with. There’s a giant pipe-organ-y-thing and Buckyballs and they want you to touch ‘em both!

GET: Ugly Sweater T-Shirts

Wearing an ugly sweater this time of year takes commitment. An Ugly Sweater T-Shirt? Not so much. Fun.

GET: See Something, Skate Something

Someone’s been putting up these very clever posters all over my neighborhood (Williamsburg NYC). They’re based on the “If You See Something, Say Something” NYC subway campaign. Fun, right? Looks like they’re available for sale as well.

Sadly, the number doesn’t want to ring through to anything.

GET: The Geekiest Suits In The Universe

I know: Geeky? Sexy? Cool? What’s the difference, they’re fun as hell, right? And at $85, the price is right. I think I know what I’m getting the Mrs this holiday season.

GET: QRapping Paper

Here’s how it works: Each sheet of wrapping paper has 50 QR codes that link to 50 exclusive holiday videos. Snap a shot with your bar-code reading smart phone and – BOOM – the outside of that present just become more like a film festival than something you’d ball up. Videos include “Drunken Carolers” “Car vs. Fruitcake” “Santa Distracted by his Phone” and more. Mega high-five to Justin Gignac, long-time friend o’ the doggle, for inventing it… and getting me to blog again just so I could post it.

$19.99 gets you a roll.

GET: Limited Edition Buckyballs

Deck the halls with Red and Green sets, fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.
Grab a pair or you’ll be rejects, fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.
Please ignore
the bit about rejects.
Nothing rhymes,
nothing rhymes,
with Green sets.

It’s true, the Zoomdoggle gang isn’t much for writing songs, but we do know a thing or two about balls. Only 900, extra special, super-fun, limited edition, holiday sets were made. Buy a pair at a special price for the Buck-head in your life.
Be warned though… they’re going fast. Act now or it’s Scrooge-ville supreme.

GET: Pillowtie

Speaking of board rooms and big dreams, the two have always gone hand in hand. Now they go face on desk. It kinda makes sense. Sleep on it.

GET: Sorry, We’re Signs

Aesthetic Apparatus has started making plastic window signs. According to their site they are “shiny and smell like a brand-new Barbie doll ass”. That works for me. Just $20 gets you the full set.
