Zoomdoggle: More fun than work!

Since I’ve been working on my laptop all week,

I thought I’d make my desktop a more fun place to be by changing all the icons in my dock to pictures!

I can’t help but smile every time I click on my friend Helen blowing bubbles, Matty on the swings, and Moo reaching out for a hug.

For all of you Mac lovers, I made a quick set of instructions on how to make your own fun icons. Click the image to see it larger and make some of your own.

How much time do you have to kill? No, really, give it a think. If you don’t have at least 5 minutes, a pen and some paper, and a PHD in Twitter, just skip this one over. For the select few however, the makers of the new Terminator movie have come up with a twitter based game. Here’s how it works (note, what follows means next to nothing to me – wayyyyy toooo complexxxx – but the idea of the thing sounds fun):

OVERVIEW

Members of the human resistance are communicating with each other through Twitter. The Resistance is able to “intercept” Skynet communications, but they are decoded, incomplete or unanswered. The Resistance is turning to the Resistance2018 community to help complete these intercepts and broadcast messages in support of the cause.

TERMINATOR SALVATION TWITTER GAME

1. Follow Terminator Salvation on Twitter (@resistance2018)
2. Log In on 2018blog.com
3. Watch for tweets from @resistance2018
4. Send answers via @replies with hash tags to @resistance2018 or RT through the blog
5. You will receive a direct messages in Twitter with point updates

OBJECTIVE

Your primary objectives are as follows:

* Follow Resistance2018 on Twitter for messages throughout the day
* Respond to Resistance Assignments quickly to earn points
* Accrue points to advance positions on the leaderboard and achieve higher ranks in the Resistance Army

TWITTER MESSAGE TYPES

1. Resistance Assignments (Abbreviation: RA) will be of the following types:
* Word Mix (Abbreviation: WM) – Word Mix is a simple jumble of letters that need to be unscrambled. Ex: “OHJN” is “JOHN”
* Trivia (Abbreviation: TR) – Trivia questions require simple answers about Terminator Salvation. You may often be directed to the website to find the answer.
* Partial Transmission (Abbreviation: PT) – Partial transmission is a simple letter, word or combination of both that you must fill in and then reply with the complete message. Ex: “_O_N” is “JOHN”
2. Skynet Warnings (Abbreviation: SW) are informational messages related to the war between humans and machines.
3. Terminator Salvation Updates (Abbreviation: TSU) are information about the film. The updates may also reinforce the instructions and provide tips on how to earn more points.
4. Status (Abbreviation: STAT) are direct messages that update you on your points and rank in the game.

TWEET FORMAT

Tweets will utilize abbreviations to identify message types. Resistance Assignments will begin with RA: followed by the specific message type abbreviation, as in:

* RA:WM
* RA:TR
* RA:PT

Next, an action command and the question, as in:

* RA:WM Decode “OHJN”
* RA:TR “What is the last name of the leader of the Resistance?”
* RA:PT Complete “_O_N _O_NN_R”

You will likewise be required to reply with a set format:

* @Resistance2018 JOHN #RA:WM
* @Resistance2018 CONNOR #RA:TR
* @Resistance2018 JOHN CONNOR #RA:PT

PLEASE NOTE: All Resistance Assignment replies must include a hash tag for the question type as shown in the examples above. Failure to do so will register your response as incorrect.

RETWEETS

Once you log into the blog, click on your twitter icon to see available RT bonus assignments and a summary of your activity within the game.

SCORING

You can both earn points and lose points in the game. Earn points through timely responses to Resistance Assignments (RA) and retweets through the blog. RA and RT point values vary, and you may receive greater point values if you are one of the first respondents. As you earn points, you move up the leaderboard and rise in rank within the resistance army.

Machines may periodically harvest you and penalize you a percentage of your points. There is no defense against being harvested so be on alert!

If I understand correctly (and I probably don’t, last night was a late one) you start with someone else’s tweet, re-jigger it magnet poem-style, @ anyone you like, and publish to the TwitterMagnets feed. Yup, good times. Have a go. Let us know if you come up with anything good.

Last night I cut out a little heart on a piece of paper and put it over my lens.

It turns lights into hearts! How cute is that?

When I was just a lil’ one, I had to have surgery on my stomach. Luckily it left me with the funnest scar one could ask for:

Occasionally I’ll add eyes to complete the smiley face.

All week I’ve been carrying around paper eyes with me. I put tape on the back of the eyes and stuck them onto random things I passed by.

It immediately gives inanimate objects a personality!

I know I know, it hardly feels like the holidays without snow. The weather can’t always be counted on to do the right thing, so I’ve taken to making my own.

I made a bunch of thought bubbles out of paper and we hung them around Brooklyn. We waited for people to walk by the bubbles and when they did, I took a picture.
