QUICK: Ready Lighting Fast (Spreeder)

Ever wanted to read… fast? Spreeder is the funnest way to learn (or at least the funnest way to try). Plug in the words you want to read, then set the speed, and Spreeder flashes through them. See how much you can actually absorb as the words shoot past. See if you can get faster by day’s end. Or, just do like I did, and see how much more enjoyable even the driest emails are at high speed. For real though, it’s well worth the effort.

BEAT THIS RECORD: Fastest Recital Of The Alphabet

Dennis Cameron recited the entire English alphabet in 2.78 seconds, smashing the old record for the Fastest Recital of the Alphabet by almost a full second.

EDITORS NOTE: I know it seems rough, but this one is prime to fall… take a shot and write yourself into the history books.

LOOK: I Look Like Barack Obama (.com)

With the similarity being so close visually, it’s a good thing there’s a website to clear up the difference. But there is. So you know this guy isn’t Barack. How fun is that?

PLAY: Ge.ne.sis

Ge.ne.sis is the perfect collision of perdy and playful. That’s a flowery description, I know, bottom line, you know any game with it’s own trailer and strategy guide is a day killer. Click the pic to make the jump.

FUN VIDEO: Kramer’s On Cue

Every Kramer intro-slide ever… in chronological order… if this doesn’t make you smile you’re probably out collecting Dalmatians for some kind of jacket and don’t have access to the Internet anyway.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Art In Odd Places 2009

WHEN: From now until the end of the month (Oct 31)
WHERE: All along New York City’s 14th Street
WHAT: “Art in Odd Places (AiOP) is an artist-led initiative presenting art and performance that stretches the possibilities of the public realm.” What’s that mean? It means keep your eyes peeled, there’s some really awesome stuff poking it’s head out, without warning, and in some fairly unexpected places. Too many artists to list, too many fun projects to mention (Ice Race: Cross Town Dash? I am so there), full details after the jump.

MAKE: Homemade Candy Corn

Writes Serious Eats:
“Ever wondered how candy corn is made? Well, to give you the short answer, with lots of equipment, over a four to five day period. But don’t let the process daunt you, because it is possible to make your own micro-batches of the classic Halloween candy at home.” Full how-to can after the jump. Yum.

BUCKYBALLS: Secret Project X (bringing ‘em to a store near you)

No more mystery. No more suspense. No more secrets (it was killing me anyway). Buckyballs have new packaging…

A new web site…

But perhaps most importantly, have a new in-store display…

That’s right STORES. Who would’ve thought that making the display, painting it, folding it, moving it, etc. would take so long (or so many people), but we’re happy to be there now… possibly even in your own neighborhood. That said, it seems like a good time for another contest. Here’s how it works, first one to post a picture of themselves to the Buckyball Facebook page, with a set they just bought from a store, wins another set on us! How fun is that? Easy too. It’s like a giant Bucky scavenger hunt, with 300+ Xs (the stores) marking the spots. Get to it!

QUICK: Find Your Flight

OK, check it out. Above is a real-time (well, they say it’s 5 minutes behind or so, but sometimes I’ve logged on and seen back as far as an hour) screen shot of every flight in America provided free of charge by the National Air Traffic Controllers Association. Fun right? Ready to turn it up to 11? Click around some and you can track any plane in flight. It’s cool to do when you’ve got a friend en route, even funner to do from the plane (if they’ve got WiFi). Either way, just looking is libel to blow your mind. How fun is that?

PLAY: Time Fcuk

Just like the name suggests, this one is going to captivate you for a while. Arrows control motion. Space bar makes you jump. And “A” switches between layers (there’s your time fcuck right there). Click the pic to get the game. High-score bragging is encouraged below.
