QUICK: Stand On This Car

Remember some time back when I posted that video about how I deserved a Ford Fiesta? Well, I guess people watched it enough, or voted, or Ford liked it or whatever and they decided to give me one. Six months with a free car, insurance, gas, and parking all paid for. Fun right?

It’s fun to drive, but when it’s not in motion, I find it’s almost as fun to climb on as it is climb in… probably because I don’t actually own it. Here’s the thing though, you don’t own it either. So I’d like you to get up on the hood too.

That’s right, if you see this car on the street – and it should be fairly easy to identify seeing as there are only 140 in the US and mine is probably the only maroon one with pink spots – I want you to jump up on the hood and take a picture. Worried you’ll forget? Don’t worry, I’m posting these very same instructions in the front windshield every time I park.

Gotta wonder what my neighbors think. Anyway, I’ll put up the pictures as they come in, and every now and then, we’ll award a prize or two (speaking of which, one one has gotten the top post yet, I think we should close that one out tomorrow though regardless). If you’re in New York, keep an eye out for it and have a pose in mind. If the idea takes off, maybe I’ll lend it out for a coast-to-coast trek so those in other parts of the country can experience the joy as well. Sound like a plan?

This is just the kind of thing you would win.

Speaking of, did you ever submit an entry for Hyatt’s sweepstakes? The one with 365 free nights and a million airline miles? Deadline is tonight. It’s easy I did mine last night.

How does Ford feel about your turning their ride into a kickstand?

(If your hope is that they can pull some kind of “you break it your bought it” scheme on everyone who sends in a picture this MIGHT be the smartest thing I’ve ever seen)

whoa… dude… congratulations on the ride!

Love the idea of engaging people with your car, but why would you ask them to climb onto the hood of your car? All that will do is give you a nicely dented hood later on and make the car look like crap. Why not get pictures of people hugging it, posing in front of it, etc.?

Saw your tweet about the car being stolen, that sucks!

  8. McArthur says:

I’m sure your car wasn’t stolen, I’m sure ford saw this and decided to “steal” your car. haha. sucks

@McArthur, I had the very same thought! lol

  10. DG says:

Is this a way to help the police find it???

  11. jakehimself says:

NO, this was pre-steal… just a fun idea.
