Urly Show Podcast #9

The kids over at URLesque were kind enough to have me up as this week’s special guest in their podcast. It was 45 minutes of deeply therapeutic Jake-talk (to know me is to know that I often like weaving yarns… about myself). We talk Zoomdoggle, fun, Road Rules, penis molds, interwebs, pasts, presence (sic), and future.

BONUS: At the top of the show I give 5 things you could do for fun if you get bored listening. Yup, it’s that kind of party.

DOUBLE BONUS: There’s a BuckyBalls giveaway challenge toward the end. Four sets are up for grabs. What are you waiting for?

FUN VIDEO: Hamster Can’t Eat Pencil

He can try though. Oh, can he try.

Thanks to TQM for sending it in.

HONORARY DOGGLERS: Club Animals

Remember the Club Animals from way back when? They’re back at it (or maybe they never stopped it… they hardly check in) offering “free bouncy rides” to NYC’s club-goers and subway users. Fun, right? If you’re in the big apple, and you see a dolphin, take a ride. Free of charge. It makes perfect sense.

FULL DISCLOSURE: Having been bounced myself, I can tell you that watching the ladies get jiggled is better than the ride itself.

QUICK: Test Your Brain (Faces, Words, and Numbers)

Never forget a face, but can’t remember a phone number? Or maybe it’s the other way around? Test your memory for different types of information, and see how you compare to others (me? Not so good). Harvard’s Vision Lab and Social Neuroscience and Psychopathology Lab, so you know it’s for real (not quite as fun as drawing a pig, but slightly more informative). WARNING: This one’s a long one. From start to finish, getting a reading takes about 15 minutes. Let us know how it goes in the comments below.

Ranch edition. Fun, right? Fake or real? Even the experts can’t tell.

What If Sports

What if the ’85 Bears played the ’83 Phillies? What if Kobe and Shaq got along? What if what if what if…

Wonder no more, What If Sports answers even the silliest of questions (mainly ‘who would win’) involving any team (only football actually, wish I’d known that before I ‘shopped the picture) from the last 12 years. You pick the teams, designate who’s home and away, playbook style (run-heavy, balanced, etc), and weather conditions, and it churns out all the faux-game’s stats. How fun is that?

Take A Virtual White House Tour

Each year 1.5 million visitors go through the White House. But, at the moment, you’re not one of them. Plus, they only get to see a handful of rooms. Check out all the nooks and crannies they don’t see (140 rooms in all), plus the kinds of facts and figures that might one day win you Trivial Pursuit. Yup. Start with the residence and work your way down.

Play Bouncing Balls

Another variation (slight) on a tried and true theme: Shoot balls at other balls to makes sets of three and destroy them. Somehow this one in easier though (read: winning is fun). Click the pic to get the game.
