READER CHALLENGE: Sit, Rotate, Write

This showed up in my inbox yesterday at noon. By 2 everyone in the office had given it a shot… and no one had pulled it off. So there you have it, our first ever reader challenge—from a reader and for the readers no less—how fun is that?

  1. k says:

I don’t understand- why does my foot switch directions!!

  2. k says:

If i concentrate and move very slowly i think i can do it. But it is arguable whether it counts.

  3. digismarts says:

Yup, I’m filing that under “impossible” and showing friends, but only to frustrate them.

  4. Devin says:

I did it first try. No problem.

    I’m also a drummer though….

hey when do we find out who won the gummie pictures? i think my contribution to needfun was pretty darn good!

  5. jeremyoh says:

Im willing to bet this is because most people draw a 6 starting at the top, finishing up with the loop at the bottom. If you draw it in reverse, making the loop in a clockwise motion and ending at the top, your foot wont change direction!

  6. Geoff Girardin says:

Yeah, I can do this first try. Although I, like Devin, am also a drummer. So I’m used to stuff like that.

    Easy peasy.

  7. will says:

I did it first try too, and I am yet another drummer! XD
I think it’s a similar premise to the rubbing your tummy and patting your head. it’s not impossible, but it takes practice.

  8. Devin says:

I think it’s just because drummers are better humans.

  9. GeorgeW says:

    Did it too.

    < Not a drummer.

  10. sour says:

    i can’t do it
    :(

  11. justin hileman says:

First try, but I’m not a drummer.

  12. onelargeprawn says:

    I’m a statistic too.

Tried jeremyoh’s suggestion – drew it in reverse and my foot didn’t change direction.
