Make Your Own Tiny Ice Cream

Alright, it’s official, this is my favorite how-to of all time. That’s right, past, present, and future, this one is the best. Really, you can’t overstate the awesomeness of making your own mini ice cream from a creamer, some ice water, and a sugar packet (or three). The best bit of all, it’s free. And fun to do while you wait for the check, free bread, waiter or what have you.

The short instructions read as follows:

1. Order water. You need two big glasses on the table. Drink all the water. Leave all the ice.
2. Add the salt in layers with the ice.
3. Add creamer cups. Do not open the creamer cups. Just throw ‘em right in.
4. Shake. Hard, but not so hard you make a mess.
5. After 10 minutes, remove creamer cups and wipe off salt water. Open. Add sugar (maybe some jelly too if you’d like to make strawberry) and serve.

How fun is that? Don’t answer, just do. For those needing more details, Instructables has the full how-to.

    I tried first with regular creamer(Found out that it didn’t work with non-dairy) Then I tried those International Delight Creamers-Hazelnut and French Vanilla! So Deelish. You’ve got to put a LOT of salt in there for it to work properly….

    -laughs- We do that with the brownies, only we use two Ziplock bags.
    Here’s the recipe.
    What you’ll need:

    * 1 tablespoon sugar
    * 1/2 cup milk or half & half
    * 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
    * 6 tablespoons rock salt
    * 1 pint-size plastic food storage bag (e.g., Ziploc)
    * 1 gallon-size plastic food storage bag
    * Ice cubes

    How to make it:

    1. Fill the large bag half full of ice, and add the rock salt. Seal the bag.
    2. Put milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag, and seal it.
    3. Place the small bag inside the large one, and seal it again carefully.
    4. Shake until the mixture is ice cream, which takes about 5 minutes.
    5. Wipe off the top of the small bag, then open it carefully. Enjoy!

    And then there’s Armpit fudge. (far, far tastier than it sounds!)
    Ingredients: (single serve version)

    2 oz. icing sugar (1/2 cup)
    1 Tbsp butter
    2 tsp cream cheese
    dash of vanilla essence
    2 tsp cocoa
    What to do :

    Place all ingredients in a sandwich-size plastic zipper-bag (Ziploc ™, etc).
    Squeeze out all the air.
    Squish and moosh (under the arm!) the bag until all the ingredients are well mixed and there is a creamy consistency.
    Add any favourite flavours or other stuff (raisins, M&M’s, peanut butter, chopped nuts, etc).
    Take out a spoon and enjoy.

    Do you need to shake the glass for the entire 10 minutes, or just enough to mix up the salt and ice?
