Gummi Love

Long story short: The other day I went to the MoMa and came home inspired. I wanted to break out some old gear (lighting), play with some new gear (my point n’ shoot), and make some art of my own. The one thing I didn’t have handy was a model. So I turned to the next best thing. The only crew of bright, yet, deep, willing and wonderful subjects I knew wouldn’t complain if I subjected them to endless flashbulbs and whatnot. Gummi Bears…

My little muses who never fail to amuse.

It’s funny how unified they seem when you line them up.

Or how lonely they look when you stand them alone.

This group in contemplating life, while the green one considers the unknown.

Heavenly.

I call the one I printed for the wall “I am manufactured.” I think they turned out well. And printing things big is always fun (and much less expensive than you might think. The frames on the other hand are well out of my league. For now, I’m just using clips.) It’s hard to appreciate just how big I printed them though…

Here’s one of me and the little lady for perspective. I always go to the museum and say “I could do that.” Sometimes it’s fun to follow through.

All of the bears in the second picture are so self centered except for the green one on the left.

where do you get stuff printed that big, and how much is it?
p.s. pictures are rad and you should definitely use some prints as prizes for competitions

Devin, if I wasn’t nearing complete and total financial ruin, you know I would. At the moment however, just hanging them on the wall to keep me smiling is the best I can do. They really are fun to look at. Especially when you print them on silver paper as I do.

I used a place called Nations Photo Lab (who might hopefully give me a discount just for the plug) http://www.nationsphotolab.com.
Going 30×40 will set you back a few backs ($50) but normal sizes are more affordable.

I honestly wonder what those little gummies would do if that nice green one had it’s head bitten off. o.o
