Dead At Your Age
Living is fun. Ready to know who you’ve maintained better than? Simply put your age into Dead.atyourage.com and learn a little something about thems less fortunate than yourself. As for me? I’ve outlived Steve Biko by about two weeks. “He was an anti-apartheid martyr and founder of the South African Students Organization. He died of injuries sustained from being beaten by police on September 12, 1977, 1 year before you were born.” Hum, OK. I wonder who I will have outlived tomorrow. Anyway, give it a go and if you come up with anyone funner than Mr. Biko, let us know in the comments.

I’ve outlived Steve Prefontaine by a month. He was a record holding long distance runner and inspired the running craze in America. Ironically, he died in a car crash. I like that they have added more than simply celebrities to the database.

I outlived Smith Reynolds by over two months, and he was killed by a gunshot to the head. He was an heir to the RJ Reynolds tobacco fortune.

I outlived “Big L” by almost two weeks. He was a rap artist and originator of “horrorcore.” He died of murder by gunshots on February 15, 1999, when I was 14 years old. Too bad. Horrorcore sounds pretty ridiculous. I you tubed “horrocore” and this came up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcsG36uGwiI
WTF?? Scary rap?? Weird and hilarious.

@sassyboots Big L was my favorite.
@Aaron, all I know about Prefontaine came from the movie, but I still like saying his name. PRE-fontaine. It has a good flow.

@jakehimself I really feel like I missed out on something special in horrorcore. I was too busy writing crap poetry and listening to The Cure, The Smiths, and, oddly, Boyz II Men to fully appreciate the magic that was Big L. I will make up for lost time though.
March 25th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Not quite sure that L is best remembered for his contributions to horrorcore , but whatever – “The Heist” stands as one of my all-time favorite hip-hop tracks (and I’ve listened to thousands of ‘em). Ah, I miss that dude.
Anyway, once I broke through to age 34, I had beaten Chris Farley, John Belushi, and Jesus. It’s all good.

I suppose it’s better than POST-fontaine. That guy is just a poser.

Weird, I didn’t get the name of someone I outlived…
========
You are 34 years and 39 days old today.
That’s exactly half the life of somebody famous. In another 34 years and 39 days, you will have lived exactly as long as Francis William Aston. He was a Nobel Prize winner who invented the mass spectrograph to analyze atomic isotopes who died at the age of 68 years, 80 days.
========
I got someone who outlived me…

Terry Fox was about 2 months younger than you when he died of cancer on June 28, 1981. He was an athlete and activist who ran across Canada on an artificial leg to raise money for cancer research. He died 5 years before you were born.
People like Terry make me proud to be Canadian

March 27th, 2009 at 6:05 am
http://dead.atyourage.com/age/28/58 – this would be the pertinent information for someone who was born on January 28, 1981, namely me. Awesome. I’m not totally convinced that morbidity is fun, however.
March 27th, 2009 at 6:27 am
@Nello, agreed, morbidity isn’t fun. Being alive however is.
March 30th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
