Nike Quagmire SB Dunk Hi

Oh no, I can feel my sneaker addicition bubbling up inside again. Really, I thought I’d kicked the habit (no pun intended) back in 2005 when I moved back to NYC and realized I couldn’t afford an appartment large enough to store my collection (I think we were pushing the 200 mark). Anyway, like I said, I whittled it down to a pair or two, only buy what I’m actually going to wear, and pretty much wear em out before I move on to the next ones. But these are based on Quagmire, my favorite charictor on Family Guy. Blue canvas to represent Quagmire’s jeans and red nubuck with gold stars for Glens button up shirt. There’s probably some perviness built in there are well. Come on. Really. How fun is that?

New Sport Alert: Running From Cameras

Oh my god, this is so brilliant, I can’t believe no one thought of it sooner. Big ups to to John Divola for working out the specifics. Here’s how it works:

1. put the self-timer on 2 seconds.

2. Push the button and try to get as far from the camera as you can.

I could entertain myself for hours this way. And seeing as I’ve always got a camera with me—and the L train takes forever these day—I probably will. How fun is that?

The Neverland Auction

It is with great sadness that I announce that, in April, Julien’s Auctions will be hosting an auction of, well, pretty much everything Michael Jackson has ever owned.

Of course, every cloud has a silver lining and, with my birthday just 4 months away, I’d like to direct your attention to several items which, though they are out of my price-range, I would be happy to provide a home for should anyone out there have a bit more floating around in the slush fund than they can handle. Each, more fun than the last.

- A portrait of Michael Jackson dressed as a king, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1995 and housed in an elaborate gold frame. Guide price $4,000-$6,000. Handsome.

- A robotic Michael Jackson head featured at the climax of his 1988 film Moonwalker, when he transforms into a robot and defeats Joe Pesci’s evil character, Mr Big. The pieces rearrange themselves at the push of a button. Guide price $2,000-$3,000. Amazing.

- A pair of Michael Jackson’s Triumph-era socks with uppers covered in rhinestone banding. They date back to his 1981 Triumph tour with the Jacksons. Guide price $600-$800. Affordable.

-A painting on stretched canvas featuring iconic figures such as Abraham Lincoln and Albert Einstein wearing Jackson’s trademark sunglasses and glove. Guide price $1,000-$2,000. The perfect inspiration to hang above my bed/primary blogging area.

Interesting side note: As I was showing this to my lady-friend this morning, reminding her of just how close my birthday is, and congratulating her on her new job, I was shocked to discover SHE’D ACTUALLY BEEN TO NEVERLAND RANCH! Yeah, she was invited by a friend in elementary school who played on the Compton Golf Team, all of whom had been invited up for a day of play. The best bit of all? Apparently Michael video-taped every happy face that came through the gates. If anyone has a friend of a friend with any connection to those VHS tapes, I’d give my right arm to see the lovely Kristina’s face on the screen.

Snuggie Pub Crawl

Awe man, why didn’t I think of that. A Snuggie pub crawl, for charity. It’s so fun it hurts. And you can drink without having to get your clumsy arms cold the way you did with old fashioned blankets. The best bit of all? They’ve pushed the day back from March 21st to April 18th to allow ample time for delivery of the necessary hardware. Someone ought to organize the New York version (hint hint).

Skittles + Vodka = Yum

Looking for something extra-special fun to do with your day off? How’s about getting wasted candy-land style? Instructables has the full how to, but it pretty much breaks down to this:
1- Separate Skittles into colors.
2 – Pour a single color into a bottle of vodka (or mix and match to make a hue all your own).
3 – Once dissolved, strain with coffee filter.
4 – Drink. Lots. Dance. Some. Vomit? Only one way to know.

The Hockneyizer

Upload a picture (like the one I put in the inset). Pick the number of Polaroids you’d like it broken up over. Select a background color (lest you end up with one it chose for me). And—BOOM—you’ve got an instant David Hockney college. How fun is that?
