Tango To Go
The other day, my good friend Jason walked by what he described as a rouge band of tango-ists in Union Square Park. “They pretty much just threw down a boom-box and got to it,” he said, “at first I thought they might be looking for money, or to get attention for their school or something, but I don’t think that was it. They were just… well… it looked like they were just having fun.” Needless to say I was intrigued. When a little digging turned up the following video I knew I was close to cracking the code.
It turn out it’s a tango squad called Volvo Tango. I spoke to them yesterday and, though they said they were planning on hitting South Street Seaport Sunday eve, I was otherwise engaged. Still, they stressed the fact that anyone is welcome to join. So what do you say, care to dance? Info about the group can be found after the jump.
